External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that the Taliban should follow its announcement that no country will be allowed to use the soil of Afghanistan for any kind of terrorist activities. Dr Jaishankar was addressing the Afghanistan Summit co-organized by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas. He said that resumption of travel from Afghanistan is a priority. He said that the world should not support the interference of external forces, especially those inciting violence in this difficult time.

UNICEF chief Henrietta Fore said in a statement to the media that many children have been separated from their parents in the ongoing turmoil in Afghanistan. Efforts are on to identify such children. The Taliban said today that it has conquered the Panjshir Valley, a stronghold of resistance forces. The Taliban have declared the end of the war in Afghanistan. Fighting continues in Afghanistan’s Panjshir province between Taliban fighters and resistance forces led by Ahmed Masood. The Taliban have confirmed that both sides have suffered damage in the two-day fighting. The Ahmed Masood group has said they have driven back the Taliban in Panjshir and that many of its fighters have been killed. The Taliban denied the attack on Panjshir, saying its faction was attacked by Masood supporters and they have only retaliated with the attack. Meanwhile, Taliban leader Amir Khan Muttaki has said that talks between the two factions have yielded no results.
