At least 2 people were killed and 8 others wounded in an explosion near a football field in the province of Balochistan, Pakistan, an official said on Sunday.
The explosion took place in the Panjgur area, when players from two teams and spectators left the field after the game, provincial spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani told Xinhua news agency.
He added that the wounded included high school boys who were playing and watching the match.
“The commitment of the provincial government to abolish militia cannot be deterred by such cowardly actions. The elements involved in the attack will be nabbed and taken to the books,” said Shahwani.
Speaking to Xinhua, police sources said the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device planted on a motorbike. Two cars were also destroyed by a strong blast, sources said.
The investigation into the incident was pending.
