A 57-year-old BJP functionary has been killed in North East Delhi. He was shot in the head and died then and there.
Initial reports suggested Qureshi, along with his son, had left his house early morning. They were headed towards a nearby mosque when he was shot dead.
His son was also knifed and later hospitalised.
Police have cordoned off the area and a forensic team reached the spot. The armed assailants fled after shooting the victim.
Police said Qureshi had several cases registered against him and his son, too.
“We have got some clues about the assailants and our teams are working on it. Prima facie it seems to be a matter of personal enmity,” said Ved Prakash Surya, DCP North East Delhi.
Police are gathering CCTV footage around the area for clues about the assailants. Many teams have been formed to identify and arrest the accused.
