Britain has announced that Indians will no longer need to go into mandatory ten-day quarantine upon arrival in the UK from 11 October. But for this it will be necessary that they have been vaccinated with Kovidshield or any other vaccine approved by the UK.
Earlier, Britain had not recognized India’s Kovishield by Britain, due to which Indians had to stay in isolation for 10 days on arrival in the UK and expensive Kovid tests were also done on the second and eighth day after reaching there. Last week, in response to the discriminatory travel rules of the British government, India imposed similar conditions on travelers arriving from Britain to India.
Serum Institute India CEO Adar Poonawalla thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson after the British government announced the lifting of the quarantine condition for Indians from October 11. In a tweet, he said that this is a great example of the close ties between the two countries.
