The Government of Maharashtra has urged the Central Government to frame uniform guidelines for the use of loudspeakers at religious places. State Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil told a press conference after the all-party meeting in Mumbai today that the State Government has issued several guidelines between 2015 and 2017 in view of the Supreme Court’s 2005 judgment regarding noise pollution.
He said that loudspeakers are used in Maharashtra during Ganesh Utsav, Navratri and daily prayers in the village. Patil said that these rules cannot be applied to one community only and everyone has to follow them. He said that it is not the job of the state government to allow installation or removal of loudspeakers.
Aditya Thackeray said that a delegation from Maharashtra will go to Delhi and request the central government to frame guidelines regarding loudspeakers.
