COVID-19 STATUS: Over 18,500 new cases in India in a day, death toll nears 17,000-mark

Delhi recorded 2,084 fresh coronavirus cases on Monday. The fresh cases in Delhi took the infection tally to over 85,000, while the death toll rose to 2,680. So far, India has registered 5.4 lakh cases of coronavirus, while 16,475 have died due to Covid-19.

Authorities in Guwahati have imposed a complete lockdown in Kamrup Metropolitan district till July 12 to check the spread of coronavirus.

The total number of samples tested till June 29 is 86,08,654. Of the total, 2,10,292 samples were tested on Monday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said. The Indian government has announced guidelines for Unlock 2, which begins on July 1.

As per the latest guidelines, more domestic flights and passenger trains will be allowed, while educational institutions, metro rail services, cinema halls and gyms will continue to remain shut.

The PM’s address comes as the country enters Unlock 2 from July 1. Tuesday’s address will be the PM’s sixth address to the nation since the outbreak of the pandemic.
