Delhi Police has so far arrested 21 people in connection with stone pelting and arson in Jahangirpuri area of the capital. The arrested persons also include two key accused, who have been sent to police custody. Two teenagers have also been arrested.
According to the police, the principal accused had opened fire, injuring a sub-inspector of Delhi Police. The third prime accused was arrested last night. He has also been involved in the case of dacoity and attempt to murder in Jahangirpuri area in the past. Eight police personnel and a local resident were injured in the Jahangir Puri violence.
Deputy Commissioner of Police- North West, Usha Rangnani said that three guns and five swords have been confiscated from the accused.
Special commissioner of crime branch Ravindra Yadav said that the district police and crime branch are jointly investigating the matter. Violent clashes broke out between two communities during Hanuman Janmotsav procession in Jahangirpuri on Saturday.
