because the capital recorded 613 fresh coronavirus cases on Monday, rock bottom within the last two months, and recovery rate improved to 88 per cent, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said while other cities are re-imposing lockdown, there was no such need in Delhi.

Kejriwal, who claimed that the city’s virus management model is being discussed round the world, launched employment portal to assist people that have lost their livelihood thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic and his government passed an order to permit street vendors and hawkers to resume their work.

With 613 fresh coronavirus cases on Monday — rock bottom since May 27 when 792 fresh cases were recorded — the coronavirus count within the city reached 1,31,219. The price climbed 3,853 following 26 more fatalities.

However, the decline in fresh cases also coincided with a lesser number of tests.

According to Monday’s health bulletin, which details information about the fresh cases registered within the last 24 hours, 11,506 tests (7,685 RT-PCR, CBNAAT and True NAAT tests figures; 3821 – Rapid Antigen), the second lowest in July.

The number of tests done per million, as on Monday, was 50,435, it said.

This is for the second time this month that daily fresh cases have gone below 1,000. On July 20, the fresh cases count had dipped to 954, which was also a Sunday.

The active cases tally on Monday was 10,994, down from 11,904 the previous day while the recovery rate stands at 88 per cent.

The number of containment zones stood at 716.
Buoyed by the encouraging numbers, Kejriwal said on one hand the cases of coronavirus within the country and across the planet are rising exponentially, the figures in Delhi are declining at a uniform rate.

Kejriwal said when coronavirus was at its peak, the Delhi government advocated the lifting of the lockdown at the earliest.

“When the lockdown was lifted and cases began rising, the Delhi government worked towards improving things rather than placing a lockdown again. We are hearing that several cities are rushing to impose 2-10 days lockdown, but i’m happy that there was no got to re-impose lockdown in Delhi,” he added.

He said things has improved significantly thanks to diligence and prudence of Delhi people.
