Faiz’s poetry has been removed from the text ‘Religion, Communalism and Politics – Communal, Secular State’ from Class 10 textbook ‘Democratic Politics II’ in the syllabus released by CBSE for the session 2022-23. These shayari were placed on page number 46, 48, 49 through pictures.
It consists of two posters and a political cartoon. One of these poems was written by Faiz when he was being chained to a dentist in a tonga from a Lahore jail.
Apart from this, the parts of food security in class 10th, cold war and non-aligned movement in class 12th, mathematical reasoning from class 11th have also been removed.
It is worth noting that earlier in 2012, NCERT had removed 6 political cartoons from political science books of class 9th to 12th. After that in 2018 the captions of some cartoons were also changed.
