Five Security Personnel killed in an encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur

In an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, five security personnel were killed and several others were injured in the line of duty. “Five security personnel were killed in the line of duty. When the encounter occurred, security personnel from the CRPF’s elite CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) unit, the District Reserve Guard (DRG), and the Special Task Force (STF) were on an anti-Maoist operation.

“The clash occurred in the Tarrem area (along the Sukma-Bijapur border) while a joint team of security forces was out on an anti-Naxal (Maoist) operation,” according to the report. Directo Chhattisgarh.
“Five jawans were killed and a few others were injured in the gunfight, according to preliminary information,” he added.

This comes just days after Maoists attacked a bus carrying 27 DRG (District Reserve Guard) troops in Chhattisgarh’s Naryanpur district, killing five police officers and injuring 14. The bus, which was traveling from Kadenar to Kanhargaon, was hit by an IED (improvised explosive device).

Meanwhile, three Maoists arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Thursday were involved in the planting of explosives to target security forces.
