The Karnataka government has issued orders to provide financial assistance for the pilgrimage of Hindu pilgrims to Kashi.
Karnataka’s Muzrai, Haj and Waqf Minister Sasikala Jolle said that an order was issued yesterday regarding the financial assistance scheme for the pilgrims going to Kashi. This order is in line with the announcement made by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai in the budget speech.
While the central government has stopped the Haj subsidy, the subsidy provided to the pilgrimages run by various state governments has come under discussion. In this country, all the state governments are giving subsidy for pilgrimage from Ajmer to Jerusalem.
Most of the governments give huge subsidy for the journey to Kailash Mansarovar. Many states subsidize pilgrimages to various religious places, many of which also provide free travel and other facilities to senior citizens.
The Government of Gujarat has been conducting Mansarovar Yatra for pilgrims since 2001. Last year itself Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has started the Sravantirth Darshan Yojana and Sindhu Darshan Yatra on the occasion of 57th Foundation Day of Gujarat. The government provides assistance of 23 thousand rupees to the pilgrims going on Mansarovar Yatra.
