Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Guwahati and Imphal this weekend during a two-day trip starting on Saturday.
The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader will allocate financial grants to 8,000 Namghars (traditional Vaishnavite monasteries of Assam) under the Assam Darshan programme in Guwahati. The Home Secretary will also lay the foundation stones for the construction of ‘Batadrava Than’ as a cultural and tourist destination, the New Medical College in Guwahati (2nd medical college in the city) and nine law colleges to be founded across Assam.
On Sunday, the second day of his visit, Shah would lay the foundation stones of the Churachandpur Medical College in Imphal. He will also lay the foundation stone of the IIT at Muongkhong.
