Inaugurating the World Dairy Convention at the India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida near Delhi, the Prime Minister said that India’s dairy sector is known for mass production rather than mass production. He said that due to the collective efforts of small dairy farmers, India has become the largest dairy producer in the world. Modi said that in 2014 the country produced 14.60 million tonnes of milk, which has now increased to 210 million tonnes, which is an increase of about 44 percent.
He said that the dairy sector is a major source of livelihood for crores of people across the world along with giving impetus to the rural economy. He said that the driving force of dairy sector in India is small farmers. The Prime Minister said that 75 percent contribution in the dairy sector is due to women power. He said that the digital revolution has also reached the dairy sector and the digital payment system can help farmers across the world.
In the past few years, lumpy skin disease has become a threat to cattle and to save their lives, a vaccine has been prepared indigenously. Modi said plastic has become a threat to cattle and the government is determined to eliminate the use of single-use plastic.
