In the last 24 hours, India recorded over 3.23 lakh new Covid cases, 8.4 percent fewer than yesterday, and 2,771 deaths. Several countries, including the United States, have pledged assistance as India struggles with severe medical shortages.

Over three lakh cases have been recorded in the country for the sixth day in a row. The new cases bring the country’s total caseload to more than 1.76 crore. The deaths on Monday bring the total number of fatalities to 1,97,894.

Despite a drop in cases in Mumbai, Maharashtra reported 48,700 cases of Covid. Despite the strict restrictions, several other cities in the state continue to have a high caseload.

The states with the most infections are Kerala, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi.
Karnataka will go on strike for two weeks starting tonight in an attempt to break the chain of Covid infections. The state, which reported 29,744 new cases, has seen a significant increase in cases, which has overburdened the health-care system. Bengaluru is responsible for 16,545 of the new cases.

On Monday, Delhi saw the highest single-day increase in COVID-19 deaths, with 380 more people succumbing to the infection. In the last 24 hours, the capital recorded 20,201 cases. The decrease in cases is also due to a decrease in testing. On Sunday, 57,690 tests were carried out, which is half of what Delhi does on a typical day.
