India won five medals on day 6 at CWG

India won five medals on the sixth day of the Commonwealth Games yesterday.

In the 22nd Commonwealth Games, Tejaswin Shankar won the bronze medal in the men’s high jump by jumping two decimals 2-2 meters. This is India’s first medal in high jump in Commonwealth Games history. Lifters continue to perform well in lifting. Gurdeep Singh won the bronze medal in the above 109 kg category. Lovepreet Singh won the bronze medal in the 109 kg weight category.

Saurav Ghoshal created history in squash and managed to win the bronze medal. This is India’s first medal in the history of the Commonwealth Games in the singles event of squash. Saurav described this victory as historic.

Tulika Mann won silver medal in women’s 79 kg weight category in Judo. In women’s cricket, India has made it to the semi-finals. Team India defeated Barbados by one hundred runs in their last league match on the basis of excellent performances from Jamaima Rodrigues and Renuka Singh. In hockey, the Indian men’s and women’s teams have made it to the semi-finals.

In women’s boxing, Nikhat Zareen and Neetu Singh have confirmed their medals by reaching the semi-finals of their respective weight categories. In the 70 kg weight category, Lovlina Borgohain crashed out after losing in the quarterfinals. In the men’s section, Mohammad Husamuddin has also ensured a medal by making it to the last four. Australia is first, England second and Canada third in the medal tally. India is at the seventh position with 18 medals including five gold, six silver and seven bronze medals.
