Coronavirus cases in India touched 17 lakh-mark as the country recorded over 54,700 cases cases in a span of 24 hours. Meanwhile, Delhi now stands at the 12th position among the various states and union territories in the country in terms of active cases of Covid-19, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said.
Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally spiked by 9,601 new cases to 4,31,719 on Saturday while the death of 322 patients, including 45 in Mumbai, took the toll in the state to 15,316, the health department said.
Meanwhile in US, Dr Anthony Fauci said he remains confident that a coronavirus vaccine will be ready by early next year, telling lawmakers that a quarter-million Americans already have volunteered to take part in clinical trials. China reported 49 cases of the new coronavirus in the mainland for August 1, the health commission said on Sunday.
