Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and State Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri launched the ‘Agneepath Yojana’ in the state by lighting a torch on Wednesday. The recruitment process of ‘Agniveers’ in the state is formally starting on August 19.

In a grand program organized here, Chief Minister Dhami, Assembly Speaker Khanduri and state cabinet ministers Ganesh Joshi and Rekha Arya also paid tribute to the country’s first chief defense chairman, the late General Bipin Rawat.

During this, thousands of ex-servicemen and youths who came to participate in the Agniveer recruitment process were also present. The families of the martyrs were also honored on this occasion.

Describing Uttarakhand as ‘Veer Bhoomi’, Dhami said that with the ‘Agneepath’ scheme, the country would get patriotic and disciplined youth, who would lay the foundation of a new India.

He said that this scheme would prove to be very beneficial for the youth of the state who dream of joining the army.
