Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for promotion of local language in court decisions, which will increase the confidence of common man in the judicial system. Addressing the inaugural session of the Joint Conference of Chief Ministers of States and Chief Justices of High Courts held in New Delhi, Modi said that the government considers the potential of technology in the judicial system as an essential part of the Digital India mission.

The Prime Minister also clarified the role and responsibility of the judiciary and the executive on the completion of 75 years of independence. Shri Modi said that in the ‘Amrit Kaal’ there should be such a judicial system in the country in which justice is given to everyone easily and quickly.

Referring to the undertrials lodged in the jail, the Prime Minister said that there are 3.5 lakh such prisoners in the country, most of whom are from poor and ordinary families. He asked the Chief Ministers and Judges of High Courts to deal with such cases on priority.

He said that good intentions behind the PIL should not be misused. Officers should not be intimidated because of personal interest and should not create obstruction in the work. The Chief Justice said that the Constitution has given different powers to the three constitutional institutions and each should keep in mind its own limitations.
