Major blow to Mamata Banerjee, faces largest single-day exodus as five TMC MLAs join BJP

Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress faced largest single-day exodus for the second time with five of its MLAs and a Member of Parliament, switched over to Bhartiya Janata Party. before the assembly elections, 5 Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLAs joined the BJP on the Monday in a major blow to the ruling Trinamool Congress government in Western Bengal before the assembly elections.

The candidates who quit and joined Bhartiya Janata Party are Sonali Guha, Sital Sardar, Dipendu Biswas, Rabindranath Bhattacharya and Jatu Lahiri are the legislators who have moved to the BJP. Sarala Murmu joined the BJP in addition to the MLAs, the TMC candidate from Habibpur.

In the presence of Dilip Ghosh, President of West Bengal Party, Suvendu Adhikari and Mukul Roy, BJP leaders, the MLA entered the saffron party in Kolkata. In the last month, many TMC MLAs and MPs, as well as a large number of its veterans, passed over to BJP and gave the saffron party an advantage in the polls.

In the presence of BJP president JP Nadde and Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan, veteran Trinamool Congress leader and former Union Railways minister Dinesh Trivedi joined BJP last week.

Elections are scheduled in eight stages, from 27 March to 29 April, for 294 members of the Assembly of the State.
