10 people were killed when a train going from Lucknow to Rameswaram caught fire near Madurai railway station in Tamil Nadu. At the same time, more than 20 people have been injured in this accident. According to railway officials, the information about the fire was received at 5.15 am. The train was halted at Madurai Yard Junction at the time of the accident.
Officials said that the cause of the accident was illegal cylinders being carried by passengers in the private party coach of the train. Because of this the fire started. The fire has been brought under control and there was no damage to other coaches. According to Southern Railway, a gas cylinder was illegally kept inside the coach, due to which the fire broke out. Devotees from Uttar Pradesh were traveling in the coach.
The District Collector further said, on Saturday morning when he lit the gas to make coffee, at the same time the cylinder exploded and caught fire. 55 people were taken out of the coach.
