More than 106 people have been arrested in connection with the Delhi clashes

To ensure peace and harmony in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday reviewed situation in violence hit North East Delhi. Also, he appealed to people to maintain peace and brotherhood.

Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser visited the affected areas yesterday and took stock of the situation. He reviewed security situation in the Maujpur area and interacted with the local people.After the visit, Mr. Doval also briefed Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation and steps taken to bring back normalcy there.

Briefing media in the national capital, Delhi Police spokesperson, M.S Randhawa said, sufficient forces have been deployed in the affected areas and no untoward incident took place. He said, police has registered 18 FIRs so far and 106 people have been arrested in connection with the violence.

Mr Randhawa said, Delhi Police has issued two helpline numbers 22829334 and 22829335 wherein people can contact for any assistance or can share any information with the police.

Delhi Police official said that the death toll in the violence has gone up to 27. Security personnel held flag march in Babarpur, Johripur and Maujpur.

Ministry of Home Affairs in an advisory has said that ‘Mob violence and lynching is a heinous crime and serious criminal offence. It invites serious consequences and stringent punishment under the law’.
