Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has won the javelin throw event in the Lausanne Diamond League with a best throw of 89.0 8m. Neeraj has become the first Indian to win the coveted Diamond League title.
Neeraj has qualified for the Diamond League Final, which will be held on 7 and 8 September in Zurich, Switzerland. He has also qualified for the 2023 World Championships.
Neeraj was able to score in only three out of six attempts, but on the basis of his first attempt, he kept the lead from start to finish. Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Jakub Vadlejk finished second with a best throw of 85.88m, while American Kurtis Thompson finished third with a best throw of 83.72m.
