The issue of the release of Nepali students taken hostage during Hamas’s attack on Israel has been raised at the international conference of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Arzu Rana, appealed to the global community to assist in the early release of the Nepali students. Dr. Rana urged the Non-Aligned Movement to give attention to Nepal’s issue on the UN General Assembly platform and help secure the release of the Nepali students.
Foreign Minister Rana called on all countries to take action, in any way possible, for the release of the Nepali students held by Hamas. She emphasized that, for the sake of humanity, the global community, especially the United Nations, should make a special effort in this matter.
During the meeting of foreign ministers from Non-Aligned Nations, held at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, an appeal was made for the release of Nepali students under Hamas’s control. Representing Nepal, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana mentioned the incident during Hamas’s attack on Israel, where 10 Nepali citizens were killed and around a dozen were taken hostage. She highlighted that nearly a year later, the release of the Nepali students under Hamas’s control has still not been achieved.
Minister Rana recalled that in the attack by Hamas on Israel last October, 10 promising Nepali students were brutally killed. She added that the country is still reeling from that shock, and the release of the Nepali students still in Hamas’s control would help ease that pain.
