At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit held in Tianjin, China, member nations strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Member nations expressed deep condolences to the victim families and called for bringing the culprits, organisers and sponsors of this incident to justice.
The conference reiterated its united commitment against terrorism, separatism and extremism. Member countries clarified that the use of these threats for personal or selfish purposes is completely unacceptable. The declaration emphasized the important role of sovereign nations and their competent institutions in countering terrorism.
Member States called on the international community to jointly combat terrorism in all its forms, including cross-border terrorist activities, terming double standards in the fight against terrorism as unacceptable.
India’s important initiatives were appreciated at the summit. The concept of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ received support. The results of the 5th SCO Startup Forum held on 3-5 April 2025 in New Delhi were welcomed, which has strengthened cooperation in scientific, technological and innovation fields.
The Member States appreciated the holding of the proposed 20th SCO Think Tank Forum in New Delhi on 21-22 May 2025. Also, special recognition was given to the efforts of the SCO Study Centre established at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) to promote cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
