Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased significantly after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. Pakistan has deployed additional troops in the border areas due to the fear of possible military action by India.
In this tense atmosphere, a controversial statement by Pakistani MP Sher Afzal Khan Marwat has become a topic of discussion. In a media interview, when he was asked what he would do if a war broke out between the two countries, he clearly said, “If the war escalates, I will go to England.” This statement has been widely circulated on social media, causing outrage among Pakistani citizens.
In the same interview, when asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi exercising restraint, Marwat replied, “Is Modi my aunt’s son that he will step back on my saying?”
Sher Afzal Khan Marwat has been associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the past, however he was removed from key party positions by Imran Khan due to his critical remarks.
The Indian Prime Minister has held meetings with the three service chiefs after the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 Indian civilians. There is great anxiety in Pakistan after India indicated a strong response, while some Pakistani leaders are threatening India by mentioning nuclear weapons.
