Pakistani troops today resorted to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing, in yet another incident of ceasefire violation, targeting Indian forward posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s border district of Poonch. One civilian was injured in the firing.
According to Defence Spokesman, Pak troops started firing using small arms and shelling with mortars targeting the Mendhar sector of Poonch. Alert Indian troops gave a befitting reply to silence the Pak guns. The exchange of fire between Indo-Pak armies continued for some time.
The condition of the injured person, who was rushed to the hospital, is reported to be stable.
