Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome with Ram bhajans in Brazil’s capital Brasilia. The Prime Minister started this state visit after the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro on the special invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

On the arrival of the Prime Minister at the Alvorada Palace, classical singer Mita Ravindra Kumar Karahe performed devotional songs. The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs shared the video of the event on social media. Mita said that she was invited by the Brazilian government to perform Prime Minister Modi’s favourite bhajans.

In bilateral talks with President Lula da Silva, Prime Minister Modi discussed important topics such as trade, clean energy, sustainable development and climate change. They agreed to enhance cooperation in defense, security, artificial intelligence, agriculture, space and semiconductor sectors.

During the joint press conference, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude for being honoured with Brazil’s highest national award. He said, “This honour is a proud moment not only for me but for 140 crore Indians.”

Prime Minister Modi praised President Lula’s contribution, calling him “the chief architect of the India-Brazil strategic partnership”. He said that every meeting with President Lula inspires him to do more for the progress and welfare of both countries. The Prime Minister dedicated the honour to the President’s commitment to India and the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
