Barbados has honoured India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi with its country’s highest national award ‘Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados’ for his strategic leadership and valuable assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Pabitra Margherita received the award on behalf of Prime Minister Modi at a ceremony held in Bridgetown. Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley met Prime Minister Modi on 20 November 2024 during the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit held in Georgetown, Guyana. She announced this award to Prime Minister Modi, appreciating his important role in strengthening international cooperation and support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
