The political crisis in Punjab has deepened after the resignation of state Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu. He had resigned yesterday, saying he would not compromise on the future of the state.
Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, after the meeting called to resolve the current crisis, said that the solution to the crisis would be found soon and all issues would be resolved.
Sources said that six Punjab Congress MLAs and some local leaders reached Sidhu’s residence last evening. Cabinet minister Razia Sultana has resigned in support of Sidhu along with party general secretary Yogendra Dhingda. Sidhu’s resignation has not been accepted yet and the Congress high command is in touch with him.
