Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the screening of the film ‘The Sabarmati Report,’ based on the Godhra tragedy, on Monday in the Balayogi Auditorium within the Parliament complex. Several members of the central cabinet, MPs, and prominent figures from the film industry were also present at this special event. After watching the film, PM Modi expressed his thoughts on the social media platform X, praising the hard work of the filmmakers. He stated that the film is an effort to expose the truth of the Godhra incident.

After watching ‘The Sabarmati Report,’ actor Vikrant Massey described the experience with the Prime Minister as extremely special and regarded it as one of the most important moments of his career. Similarly, actress Rashi Khanna mentioned that she had the opportunity to watch the film multiple times, but watching it with the PM was a significant milestone. She also noted that the film has been exempted from tax in several states, which raises hope that more people will watch it. In this way, the film’s cast shared their emotions and considered it a matter of pride.

The film ‘The Sabarmati Report’ focuses on the tragedy that occurred in 2002 at the Godhra station when the Sabarmati Express train, filled with Kar Sevaks, was set on fire by people from a particular community. This incident resulted in the death of 59 Ram Bhakts, after which Gujarat witnessed horrific communal riots. During the Godhra incident, there was significant political fallout, with the then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav claiming it was a conspiracy against the Ram Bhakts. Opposition parties portrayed the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi as a villain, holding him responsible for the Gujarat riots. In this context, Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah praised the film ‘The Sabarmati Report’ as a courageous step to uncover the truth of this tragedy.
