Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon has sent a written a letter to Chief Minister Kamal Nath, asking him to prove a majority of his government by tomorrow, “or else it will be considered that your government does not have a majority”.

In the letter, the governor took a strong exception to the tone of Kamal Nath’s earlier correspondence to him suggesting that the governor acted in a biased manner by ordering the floor test.

In response, the governor said that the language of the letter penned by Kamal Nath was unparliamentary and the reasons given to refuse floor test baseless.

“I am sorry that the sentiment and language of the reply you have given to my letter is not compatible with the parliamentary norms,” Governor Lalji Tandon said.

“It is a pity that instead of proving your majority in the time period I have given you, you wrote this letter to express your inability to get a vote of confidence in the Legislative Assembly. The reasons you have given for not conducting the floor are baseless and meaningless,” the letter written by the governor said.

Concluding the letter, the governor asked the CM to conduct a floor test by Tuesday or else it will be considered that his government does not hold a majority in the House.
