Rahul Gandhi wants to spoil the peaceful atmosphere of Kashmir: Anurag Thakur

Union Minister Anurag Thakur wondered whether Rahul Gandhi wanted to go to vitiate the atmosphere in the Valley at a time when the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, amid Congress’ announcement of hoisting the tricolor in Kashmir. And a record number of tourists have come. Anurag Thakur said in a special conversation, “Today, anyone can hoist the tricolor anywhere in Jammu and Kashmir, now there is no restriction because the Narendra Modi government has abolished Article 370 and 35A. ,

He said, “When terrorist attacks, firing incidents were happening there in Kashmir and there was a lot of opposition to it (the yatra)… and this situation was when the Congress was in government.” Anurag Thakur said in 2011 In 1990 when he was the President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, he had taken out Tiranga Yatra from Kolkata to Kashmir and this is only 11 years old.

He said, “Then there was a coalition government of the Congress at the Center and the Congress-National Conference government in Jammu and Kashmir opposed the Tiranga Yatra. Me, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, the then Leaders of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, were put in jail. Thakur said that it was difficult to hoist the tricolor in Jammu and Kashmir then as Articles 370 and 35A were in force.
