In appreciation of a selfless deed by a Railway Police Force (RPF) constable Inder Yadav, Minister Piyush Goyal compared Railway Police Force (RPF) compared him to Usain Bolt.

When Shramik train arrived at the Bhopal station, the cop on duty found that a passenger Shafiya Hashmi was in dire need of milk for her 3-month old baby. Knowing this, the RPF constable headed out to get a packet of milk for the child. But when he returned with the milk, to his dismay, he found that the train had started moving. With the rifle in one hand and milk packet in the other, Inder Yadav ran so fast that he could finally give the milk pouch the mother on the moving train.

Impressed by this deed of the constable, Railway minister Piyush Goyal tweeted “Rifle in one hand and milk in another – How Indian Railways left Usain Bolt behind,” the tweet read.

The minister was all praise for the cop who went beyond his call of duty for running along a moving train. The minister also announced a cash award for the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel

RPF Constable Inder Singh Yadav demonstrated an exemplary sense of duty when he ran behind a train to deliver milk for a child, Goyal said in a tweet. This is the minister’s second tweet appreciating the policeman for his service. Mr Goyal took note of the two-day-old incident after clip was shared widely on social media. The Railways minister later announced a cash reward for the policeman.

The baby’s mother, Shafiya Hashmi, had asked RPF official Mr Yadav for help when the Shramik Special train, going from Karnataka to Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur, stopped at the Bhopal station for a few minutes. The woman said that she could not arrange milk for her daughter and was forced to feed her biscuits with water before the RPF constable came to help.

However, the train started moving before he could arrange milk for the three-month-old baby girl.

As Mr Yadav realised that he was late by a few seconds, he sprinted towards the coach of the moving train, holding his service rifle in one hand and the milk packet in the other.

The incident was captured on CCTV.

There have been reports of special trains for migrants getting delayed by an average of 8-10 hours with passengers complaining of food and water shortages on the long journeys home.
