Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray has announced his support to Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election. Thackeray said that this decision has been taken after consultation with party workers and elected representatives. He said that many tribal community leaders had requested to support Mrs. Murmu.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said that all 50 of his MLAs will vote in favor of National Democratic Alliance candidate Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election. In this, Shiv Sena has 40 and 10 independent MLAs.
Shinde said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded a tribal woman as its candidate and this decision will help the tribal community to come into the mainstream.
