A medium-intensity earthquake of magnitude 4.2 hit Alwar district in Rajasthan on Thursday, tremors of which were felt in Delhi-NCR, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.
The epicentre of the quake was Alwar in Rajasthan, according to the NCS.

Initial reports indicated that the tremors clocked 4.2 on the Richter Scale. The origin has been traced 48 kilometres southwest of Gurugram in Haryana at a depth of 7.5 kilometres. The earthquake occurred at 11.46 pm.
According to users on Twitter, the tremors were felt in parts of Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad.
Earlier this month, as many as 19 earthquakes of magnitudes in the range of 1.7 to 3.3 were felt in Gujarat’s Gir Somnath district. No casualties or loss of property was reported at the time while a senior official at the Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) was quoted terming the tremors a result of “monsoon-induced seismicity”.
