National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Tuesday strongly advocated that countries in the region accord high priority to curbing terrorism financing, saying financial resources are the base of terrorism.
In his address at the start of the India-Central Asia meeting of National Security Advisors, Doval said that UN member states should refrain from providing any assistance to individuals or entities involved in terrorist acts and should adhere to counter-terrorism agreements. The obligations contained in should be fulfilled.
National Security Advisors of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are attending the meeting, while Turkmenistan is represented by its Ambassador to India. Doval said, “Afghanistan is an important issue, about which everyone is concerned. With regard to the immediate priorities in Afghanistan, India’s objectives are similar to those of many countries present at this forum.
He said connectivity with Central-Asian countries remains a key priority for India and India is ready to cooperate, invest and maintain connectivity in the region.
