Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, strongly condemned the terrorist attack that took place in the Gagangeer area of Gandarbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday night. He stated on the social media platform X that those involved in this heinous act will not be spared.

Police officials have reported that the attackers opened indiscriminate fire on a camp of laborers on Sunday night. This camp housed workers of a company involved in constructing the Z-bend tunnel on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Gagangeer. The attack is being characterized as a targeted killing.

Shah declared, “The cowardly terrorist attack on civilians in Gagangeer, Jammu and Kashmir, is a despicable and cowardly act. Those involved in this heinous crime will not be spared and they will face a strong response from our security forces.” Expressing grief over the loss of life, the Home Minister offered his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

It is noteworthy that the construction of a tunnel is underway in the Gagangeer area of Gandarbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, as part of a central government initiative. The laborers were staying in the same camp that was targeted by the terrorists, resulting in the deaths of seven people. Security forces have cordoned off the area and are carrying out search operations.
