The parliament in Sri Lanka may be dissolved on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka’s parliament may be dissolved tonight (Tuesday). It is believed that newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake could dissolve the parliament and announce parliamentary elections by December. Anura Kumara Dissanayake took the oath as the new president of Sri Lanka on Monday.

President Dissanayake will retain the departments of tourism, defense, finance, justice, industry, and investment promotion. The Prime Minister will become the minister for foreign affairs, education, and mass media, among other departments. NPP MP Dr. Harini Amarasuriya will be sworn in as the Prime Minister, while senior MP Vijitha Herath and MP Lakshman Nipuna Arachchi will be appointed ministers with several departments. Nipuna Arachchi was sworn in yesterday as the MP for the Colombo constituency, a seat that was vacated due to Dissanayake becoming president.

Sri Lanka’s leading newspaper *Daily Mirror* has discussed this in detail. According to the report, following the resignation of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena yesterday, a reliable source from Dissanayake’s party, National People’s Power (NPP), said that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will form an interim cabinet today. This cabinet will include himself and four ministers. The cabinet will be divided into 15 departments.
