Three unidentified terrorists were shot dead in an encounter with the defence forces in Parimpora, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Wednesday.
Terrorists resorted to shooting on security forces during a cordon and search operation in the city on Tuesday night, a police officer said. Both sides intermittently exchanged fire all night.
One militant was killed early in the morning, and two others were killed a few hours later, the official said.
Sharing specifics of the briefing, a senior army officer said that the kind of ammunition used by the terrorists against the forces all night reflects the fact that they were preparing something big near the National Highway.
