Trinamool Congress’ “Poribortan” Slogan Is A Lie: Actor Mithun Chakraborty

In the midst of a heated election campaign in West Bengal, actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty slammed the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government’s “poribortan (change)” slogan, claiming that there has been “no change in the state and the slogan was just a lie.”

According to him, the BJP’s motto is to ensure that there is no violence in Bengal. Mithun Chakraborty told news agency while campaigning for BJP candidate Biman Ghosh in Hooghly’s Pursurah “Previously, there was no “poribortan.” It was a sham. There will be no riots or violence from now on. This is the BJP’s slogan.”

The second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections ended on Thursday with an estimated voter turnout of 80.43 percent. In the second phase, thirty Assembly constituencies from the districts of South 24 Parganas, Bankura, Paschim Medinipur, and Purba Medinipur went to the polls.
