The United Nations Security Council held an important secret meeting on the growing tension between India and Pakistan, which Council President Evangelos Sekeris described as extremely useful. The primary objective of the meeting was to promote diplomatic dialogue between the two countries and prevent a potential conflict.

The representative of Pakistan made it clear that they are committed to peaceful cooperative relations and look forward to dialogue. He stressed on de-escalation of tensions and peaceful resolution of disputes.

Assistant Secretary-General Mohammad Khalid Khairy described the situation as “volatile” but did not provide further details. Sekeris described the meeting as “constructive” and said the Security Council could play an important role in reducing tensions.

The main message of the meeting was clear: avoiding military confrontation and resolving problems through diplomatic dialogue.
