Uttarakhand Farmers’ Group met Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Sunday and to say that they supported farm legislation.

They said that the three farm laws enacted by the Centre in September will bring about revolutionary changes in the agricultural sector.

“The farmers from Uttarakhand met today, understood the agricultural reform bills and gave their suggestions. I thank all of them on behalf of the government. The doors of the government are always open for the farmers,” Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told media after the meeting.

Farmer leaders at Uttarakhand assured the Union Agriculture Minister that the three laws passed by the Government are in the interests of farmers. They said that the changes could be made, but there is no reason to repeal them. They appealed to the government not to put pressure on the matter.

Earlier, radical farmers in Haryana have met with Tomar and endorsed farm legislation.

Farmers affiliated with numerous farmers’ groups in Punjab, Haryana and other areas of the country have been protesting at the boundaries of the national capital since 26 November demanding the abolition of these rules. The protest is pending as five rounds of talks between the government and the farmers have so far remained inconclusive, so farmers have urged their leaders to launch a hunger strike from 8 a.m. on 14 December. To five o’clock. They’re protesting from everywhere.
