Wakf Bill will support the deprived sections of the society: JPC Chairman

Waqf JPC chairman Jagdambika Pal on Tuesday shared important information on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. He said that when the new bill comes, it will benefit poor Muslims, Pasmanda community and widows. This statement came in the context of Asaduddin Owaisi’s comment on the bill. Pal underlined the importance of this move despite opposition, as happened on the issues of Article 370, 35-A and triple talaq, but ultimately the society benefited from it. He believes that the Waqf Bill will also bring similar positive changes.

Highlighting Owaisi’s participation in JPC meetings, Jagdambika Pal said that Owaisi actively participated in them, where amendments were approved through voting and opposition dissent notes were recorded. Pal emphasized that the government is committed to extend the benefits of Waqf to the underprivileged and the protection of places of worship is of prime importance.

At the same time, Owaisi cautioned the government against introducing the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in its current form. He said that this bill would create social instability in the country, and it has been rejected by the Muslim community. Owaisi said in the Lok Sabha that if this bill was introduced, it would violate Articles 25, 26 and 14. He expressed concern over the attempt to take the country back to the old decades and vowed to protect the properties of his community. According to him, Waqf property is a part of religious worship and he will not adopt the path of diplomacy to save it. Owaisi raised his voice in the House as a proud Indian Muslim.
