Highest civilian award for Pranab Mukherjee is a fitting recognition for his service to nation: PM

The entire nation was proud to watch the highest civilian award conferred on the former President Pranab Mukherjee.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hailed former President Pranab Mukherjee for receiving Bharat Ratna. PM Modi tweeted, “I felt honoured to have witnessed former President Pranab Mukherjee receiving India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna.

Reknowned folk singer Bhupen Hazarika and social-activists Nanaji Deshmukh received the highest civilian award posthumously.

The Prime Minister tweeted: “Dear Pranab Mukherjee, It was an honour to witness you receiving the Bharat Ratna, a fitting recognition of everything that you have done for the nation. Thank you for leaving no stone unturned towards making India more developed.”
Expressing his gratitude, Pranab Mukherjee tweeted
“My heartfelt gratitude to Rashtrapatiji and the people of our country from whom I have recieved much more than I have been able to give.”

The ceremony was participated by many dignitaries from the Central Government, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah were present. The other dignitaries from the Congress were leaders like Anand Sharma, Ahmed Patel, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Janardanm Dwivedi, RPN Singh, Sushmita Dev and Sashi Tharoor attended the ceremony.
