The Indian Army had eliminated 5-7 intruders from the Pakistan side who made repeated infiltration attempts especially in the Keran Sector. It was a major operation which could have been another Pulwama type attack. The five men of Pakistan’s Border Action Team or BAT were killed while they were trying to infiltrate into India and strike a forward post in the Keran sector. Unprovoked heavy cross-border firing still continues continuing in Keran sector, sources said.

Indian Army has sent across the photos of the slain intruders to the Pak side.

Usually the Pak side mutilates Indian soldiers but the Indian side has asked Pak army to come with white flags to take back the bodies to for the last rites. Images released to the press showed the bodies of intruders lying on the Indian side of the Line of Control
On the other hand, the Pakistan Army has been silent on taking back the bodies and has said it is “mere propaganda” and that India was “trying to divert attention of the world from the situation of Kashmir”.

In the wake of inputs from Intelligence sources of a possible terror attack, 35,000 troops have been deployed in J&K already. Three days, from July 29 to July 31 the terrorists have tried to cross the Line of Control and around four to five of them have succeeded. The plan is to carry out a terror strike on Amarnath pilgrims, similar to the February attack in Pulwama and four to five of them managed to infiltrate into India, sources said.

Earlier in 2001,2002 and 2017, attacks on pilgrims also took place. Jammu and Kashmir is on high alert with the government asking pilgrims and tourists to leave the state immediately. The advisory also said a landmine and a sniper rifle have been found.
