The ill-fated Indonesian flight which went missing in air, was finally located. The rescue operations are underway. Troublesome images shared by media of the rescuers trying to pull out severed body parts are coming-up.

The Indonesian rescuers pulled out body parts, clothing and metal scraps from the Java Sea early Sunday morning, a day after a Boeing 737-500 with 62 people on board crashed shortly after starting from Jakarta, officials said.

Officials hoped that they would hone on the wreckage of Sriwijaya Air Flight 182 after the sonar equipment had detected a signal from the aircraft.

Authorities also initiated massive search operations to locate “possible location of the crash site.” said the transport

“These pieces have been found by the SAR team between Lancang Island and Laki Island,” said Bagus Puruhito, National Search and Rescue Service.

Indonesian Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said that teams on the Rigel navy ship fitted with a remote-operated vehicle had found a signal from the aircraft that matched the coordinates of the last contact made by the pilots before the aircraft went missing. “We immediately deployed our divers from the Navy elite unit to find a way to evacuate the victims,” Tjahjanto said.

More than 12 hours after the Boeing aircraft run by the Indonesian airline had lost touch, nothing is known about what caused the accident.
