One hundred soldiers were killed in Monday night’s clash between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashyan claimed 49 soldiers were killed in the overnight clashes, while Azerbaijan’s defense ministry said 50 of its soldiers were also killed.
Both countries have accused each other of inciting violence. Armenia says Azerbaijan has opened fire on several of its border towns and has retaliated. However, Azerbaijan has said that its infrastructure was attacked first.
On the other hand, Russia has said that it has also intervened for a ceasefire to stop the violence. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan were part of the then Soviet Union.
