46 bodies have been found in a lorry lying idle on the outskirts of the city of St. Antonio in the US state of Texas. Local media reports said 16 people, including four children, had been taken to hospital.
The head of the city’s fire department, Charleshood, said the vehicle was abandoned by the driver. The car’s AC was not working and there was no arrangement for drinking water. Mexican Foreign Minister Marcillo Ebrard said two Guatemalan citizens had also been taken to hospital. The citizenship of the other victims is yet to be confirmed.
The city of Sant’Antonio is 250 km from the US-Mexico border and a major route for human trafficking.
