The death toll in the suicide blast in the mosque in Pakistan has increased to 83, while 157 people were injured. The blast took place at a mosque located in the Police Line area of Peshawar, near Afghanistan.

Officials said rescue operations are on and many people are feared to be trapped under the debris. The blast took place yesterday during afternoon prayers at the mosque when a large number of people, including police personnel, had gathered to offer prayers.

Terrorist organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the blast. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif condemned the bombing, and asked the authorities to ensure all possible treatment for the victims. He demanded strict action against those involved in the attack.

At the same time, the police has completely cordoned off the area. Police officer Sikandar Khan said a portion of the building had collapsed. Many people are feared to be buried under it. After getting the information of the blast, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has condemned it.
