Different colored ballot papers will be given to MPs and MLAs during the voting to be held on July 18 under the Presidential election. While MPs will be given green colored ballot papers, MLAs will get pink colored ballot papers. This time the cost of an MP’s vote is 700.
Since there will be different colored ballot papers, it will be easier for the returning officers to count the votes. Two columns are printed on the ballot papers. The first column contains the names of the candidates, and in the second, the members of the electoral college have been assigned a place to write the order of preference for each candidate.
Tribal leader Draupadi Murmu is the candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in this presidential election, while former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha has been made the joint candidate from the opposition.
Voting in the presidential election takes place in the Parliament House and in the state legislatures. Counting of votes takes place in the Parliament House. This time the counting of votes will take place on July 21. Due to absence of assembly in Jammu and Kashmir, this time the value of votes of MPs has come down from 708 to 700.
If Murmu wins this election and becomes the President, she will be the first leader born after independence to reach this top post. She will also be the country’s first tribal and youngest president.
